To the top of Umbria.
After a short, steep climb through a beautiful Mediterranean forest, you reach the Umbrian ridge at an altitude of 812 meters. At this summit lies the Plaza de los Moros, a natural rock formation that served as a strategic balcony overlooking the valley. The panoramic view of the Sierra and the distant horizon of the Montes de Toledo is breathtaking. Although the name "Plaza de los Moors" evokes the Middle Ages, its history goes back much further. In reality, this was a fortified settlement (castro) from the Iron Age. The few remains of walls you see are thousands of years old. The locals later attributed these mysterious ruins to the Moors, leading to stories of hidden treasures in the Umbrian rocks. After visiting the summit, you continue along the ridge with magnificent views of the Raña, the "Sergengeti" of Spain.
