Col de la Chaumette

This walk in the Florac area follows part of the famous GR70 - The Stevenson route. You first walk along the banks of the river Tarn. The second part starts with a steep climb through the forest of Ramponenche to the Col de la Chaumette. During the climb to the Col de la Chaumette you can see the special rounded peaks of Les Bondons in the distance.

Corniche de la Jonte

This walking route is an absolute highlight in the extreme southeastern corner of the Causse Méjean. You walk through a forest in the direction of the Corniche de la Jonte from where you will be served unique panoramas on the Gorges de la Jonte. You pass two monoliths Vase de Chine and Vase de Sèvres, respectively 21 and 23 meters high. This is the natural habitat of the griffon vultures that you will certainly see floating above the cliffs. The second part you walk high above the Tarn with beautiful views. After a visit to the source Fontaine du Teil you return to the starting point.

Fontmort forest

The forest of Fontmort is one of the most beautiful forests of the Cévennes and is really worth it for lovers of forest walks. On the walk you go via the famous Chemin de Stevenson to the Plan de Fontmort and further to the Col de Laupies. You descend from the Col through a nice piece of forest to end up on the route of an old railway line. Along the way you can picnic at a menhir with a beautiful panorama of the valleys of the Cévennes and Mont Aigoual.

Col des Abeilles

This walk goes a part along the draille de Languedoc and introduces you to three valleys; Vallee Longue, Gardon Saint-Germaine-de-Calberte and Mimente. At the top of La Cayla you get a 360 ° panorama on the Cevennes and in clear weather on the Alps and Mont Ventoux. From the col des Abeilles you walk through the forest of Fontmort back to the starting point.

Sentier des Puechs

This walk, with a special character, leads you around Les deux Puechs, Le Truc des Bondons and Le Truc de Miret. Puech comes from Latin: height and the word Truc would mean isolated top. These two bare tops stand alone in the midst of a beautiful landscape. Further on the walk you will pass a ridge called 'donkey saddle', with beautiful panoramic views of the valleys of the Cévennes and you will walk through the Malaval valley.

Le Pouget

A walk with a special story. Le Pouget became a ghost village after the Second World War and it remained so until the 1960s, students from the European School of Brussels built up the village brick by brick. Le Pouget is now a village where many people spend their holidays because of the beautiful location. On the walk we also get acquainted with the voie Royale that was built in the 17th and 18th centuries to connect the region with the Auvergne. This together with beautiful views of the Palhères valley make this walk a gem.

Sentier des Couronnes

This walk follows the edge of the Causse Méjean with a beautiful view of the Cévennes, Mont Lozère and the erosion-shaped rocks 'Les Couronnes' that rise high above Florac. We are also introduced to the inhospitable landscape of the Causse Méjean. With a little luck you will be accompanied on your journey by griffon vultures that float above the ridges.

Pont du Tarn

The walk goes from the hamlet of L’Hôpital across the plain of the Haut Tarn to the Mas Camargues and the hamlet of Bellecoste. From there it goes along the edge of the Bois Du Commandeur, to the old medieval bridge Pont du Tarn. From the bridge the route follows the Tarn to the carrefour des quattres chemins. A little further you cross the river via a gué, so a bit of an adventure. The last part goes through a piece of forest and the open plain back to the starting point. The silence, the desolate landscape and the beautiful views make this walk a real highlight.
