HERMITAGES.
The trail runs through the surrounding mountains of Tella and takes you past three historic and picturesque hermitages: Ermita de San Juan y San Pablo, Ermita de Fajanillas, and Ermita de la Virgen de la Peña. Each of these hermitages has a unique architectural style and history, often dating back to the Middle Ages. The first hermitage you will encounter is the Ermita de San Juan y San Pablo. This is the oldest of the three hermitages, dating back to the 11th century. Its location on a rock offers beautiful views of the Cinca River valley. The hermitage is known for its Romanesque architecture. The second hermitage, dedicated to the Virgen de la Peña, is located a little further away and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. This hermitage is smaller and more basic, but is considered an important sacred site in the region. The last hermitage on the trail is Ermita de Fajanillas. This is a more modest chapel located at a lower point of the hill. From here you can quietly enjoy the view and imagine how hermits lived here in the Middle Ages, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
