Kempen-Broek Grenspark.

The Tungelroy Brook, the Areven and the Tungelerwallen belong to the Kempen-Broek Grenspark, a 25,000 hectare Dutch and Belgian cross-border landscape characterized by a succession of nature reserves. In this part of the Tungelroyse Beek, De Raam flows into the brook. The Areven is a varied nature reserve with woods, meadows and hay fields. The Tungelerwallen is a planted pine forest that is interspersed with patches of heather and drifting sand, in this area an elongated drifting dune is followed from which the area takes its name. In the mid-19th century, the Tungelroy brook originated in the vicinity of the Tungelerwallen and provided the drainage of the vast swamp area south of Weert. At that time, the area consisted of swampy heathland and peatland with raised moors. The Raam was built later and the Tungelroyse Beek was extended to drain the swamp area. As a sight one passes almost at the end of the stage a field cross also known as the murder cross in memory of "Frans Linssen from Maaseyk who was unfortunately murdered in 1765".
