The castle ruin Asten.

Due to the many years of reclamation, there will be little to be found in the landscape of the once rugged peel area during this stage. From the town of Heusden the stage goes towards the castle ruin Asten. The castle ruins are the remains of the more than 600 years old castle of Asten, the castle was destroyed in 1944 by a German phosphorus grenade. The stage then goes through two forest areas, the Dennendijkse Bossen and the Liesselse Bossen, both forest areas can be classified as typical Brabant forests. The Dennendijkse Bossen is an originally planted forest area with pine wood for mining. In this forest area there are some open areas, the so-called bleaching. These open areas were common places where linen was bleached. Gradually the forest area has been transformed into a more natural forest area with some ponds and toad pools, which has made it an attractive hiking area. The Liesselse Bossen is a similarly young pine wood forest area planted on a former drifting sand area. This forest area has also been transformed into a more natural forest area. It is also an attractive forest area in which wide forest paths alternate with winding narrow paths.
