Ellerschans escape ramp.

The Krang, a nature reserve immediately southwest of Swartbroek, is an area with a few farms, fields, coppice plots, marshes and fens. The Krang is a rich area both historically and naturally. Around the farms (now partly out of use) are the convex fields that are so characteristic of this area, with the former marsh area Roekespeel in the north, now largely agricultural land. The stage goes via the town of Swartbroek to the stream valley of the Tungelroyse Beek. The first one passes through the Ellburg nature reserve, the special feature of which is the ancient Ellerschans escape ramp, which was discovered during the redevelopment of the brook and is visible again. The redoubt consists of a piece of land with a moat and a meter-high earth wall on the inside. The sconce was used as a refuge during the 80 Years War. The stage then continues to Ell via the attractive Heijkersbroek. The Heijkersbroek are poplar forests that have become a beautiful varied forest through changed management. In Swartbroek one passes the windmill De Hoop as a point of interest.
