Le Planet

In the far west of the Alpilles lies a wooded nature reserve called Le Planet. This walk will introduce you to this vast area. You follow the GR6 partly with views of the plain of Arles and then descend via forest paths to a beautiful valley where you will almost certainly not encounter anyone.

Chapel of Saint-Gabriel.

The first part of the walk goes over a wide, unpaved forest road with often views of the plain of Arles. At the turning point you follow forest paths and descend into a beautiful valley. The last part is again on wide unpaved forest roads.

POI 1 - Chapel of Saint Gabriel.

The chapel of Saint-Gabriel is a 12th-century chapel in the southeast of the municipality of Tarascon in the French department of Bouches-du-Rhône. The chapel is built in Romanesque style and is dedicated to Gabriel. It is located on a hill, surrounded by cypresses and olive trees. The chapel stands in the hamlet of Saint-Gabriel, on the site of the ancient Ernaginum, which was located at the intersection of Via Domitia, Via Agrippa and Via Julia Augusta.
