Col de Rates

This walk goes from Parcent via the Camí de les Revoltes to the Coll de Rates. After the plateau Tossal de Polupí you come to the cave Cova de Coloms. You can go back and forth to the Casa de la Neu, a huge ice pit. The 150 extra meters of altitude are definitely worth it. A little further you pass the source Font de la Foia and you walk through the Sierra del Carrascal back to the starting point.

Sierra del Carrascal.

The walk starts in Parcent and ascends via the Camí de les Revoltes to the viewpoint on the Coll de Rates. Here you have a fantastic panorama of the Marina Alta and Marina Baixa. From the Coll de Rates you climb further to the plateau Tossal de Polupí, which is part of Sierra del Carrascal de Parcent. From the plateau you start the descent towards Parcent. You pass the Cova de Coloms cave. A little further you can choose to go back and forth to the Casa de la Neu. The Casa de la Neu is a huge ice pit that was used to store the winter snow and later market the ice. The ice was used, among other things, to preserve food and for therapeutic purposes. On the last part you walk along the source “Font de la Foia”. Along the way you can fully enjoy the different panoramas of the Sierra del ferrer, the valley of Tàrbena. Puig Campana, Sierra de Aitana, Sierra de Aixortà, Sierra del castell de la Solana and the Montgo.
