DE SCHEEKEN EN HEERENBEEK.

Soon after leaving Best, the tour goes through the Scheeken-Mortelen nature reserve. In the spring of 2017, Brabants Landschap brought red deer back to the fenced part of this area. The area is connected to the Scheeken nature reserve on the east side of the A2 via a nature bridge. The walking tour goes through the fenced area on the west side of the A2 where the red deer live and with a bit of luck you will also see them. After leaving the fenced area, the walking tour continues through Heerenbeek and De Mortelen. Heerenbeek is an old estate forest, three quarters of which consists of moist deciduous forest. De Mortelen consists of a variety of small agricultural plots, partly transformed into flower-rich grasslands and small forest plots. The tour goes through both forests and grasslands. In Heerenbeek you pass a monumental farm from the first half of the 19th century as a point of interest. Via the meandering stream Heerenbeek, the walk towards Lennisheuvel.
