Lake d'Ilhéou

A nice walk through the valley of D'Ilhéou with several herds of sheep and goats on the way. On the way you can admire the waterfall of D'Ilhéou. The view over the mountains and the lake, which is enclosed between the Grand Barbat, Pic Arrouy and the Pic de Cournounalas, is very beautiful. A walk next to the lake, also called Lac Bleu, certainly pays off.

POI 1 - Lac D'Ilhéou.

The lac d'Ilhéou is 11.3 hectares and 20 meters deep. It lies in a beautiful setting between the Grande Barbat, the Pic Arrouy and the top of Courounalas. The word Ilhéou means lake, but is also called 'blue lake' because the beautiful blue discoloration is due to the clay plateau that is translucent.
