POI 2 - Bodon Abbey.

The history of the town of Saint-May starts with the foundation of the Bodon abbey. This abbey was founded on a rock about two kilometers from today's town. The town was first called Saint-Mary, which was derived from the name of the first abbot of Bobon's abbey: Saint-Marius. Thanks to the presence of this abbey, a small town was created above the Eygues River on a high rock. Although the abbey was almost completely destroyed during the Wars of Religion, the town remained. The current owner has restored the chapel and it is freely accessible.
