Rifugio Vittorio Sella.

This hiking trail is a classic in the Gran Paradiso National Park that you must do if you are in the area. From the tourist hamlet of Valnontey you climb via the royal hunting trails of King Vittorio Emanuelle to the refuge Vittorio Sella 900 meters higher. In the area you have a great chance to observe ibexes and chamois.

Valley of Lauson.

You leave from Valnontey and soon you pass the botanical garden, which is also worth a visit. You cross a bridge and start to climb zigzagging through a forest. After an hour of climbing you reach the Alpe Pacieu, here the route becomes a bit rougher and after some climbing you descend and go over the bridge of the Torrente de Grand Lauson. You pass the Alm Grand Lauson. From here you walk with wide hairpin bends up to reach the refuge. From the hut you can walk another half hour to the lakes of Lauson.

POI 1 - Rifugio Vittorio Sella.

The manned mountain hut is located at 2588 meters altitude and consists of two elongated buildings with a restaurant. To the left in front of the rifugio is a bar. The slightly higher situated building is a park ranger's hut. The rifugio is named after an Italian mountain photographer and was once a hunting lodge of the king Vittorio Emanuelle.
